About Us

The Long Island Pride Chorus began at a time when many in the gay and lesbian community were not free to publicly express themselves. What started as a group of friends that bonded in a small living room in 1992 has grown into a beloved and regularly performing local institution; our original vision of bringing harmony to our neighbors has, however, remained unchanged.  We are proud to continue that mission of entertaining, educating and celebrating diversity through song.

The LIPC is the oldest performing LGBT organization on Long Island. Membership is open to all regardless of gender, ability, ethnicity or orientation. Prior chorus experience is not required-if you can carry a tune, we can teach you the rest.

Our Director

Cindy Quart is the Music Director and Accompanist of the Long Island Pride Chorus since 2001.  She began playing piano at the age of 7 and has been singing and accompanying choruses and theatre groups since junior high school.  She has been recognized for her ability to select musical numbers that appeal to a wide variety of tastes, and put together concert programs with something for everyone. In addition to her work with the LIPC, Cindy performs at various venues and private events. Her love of music is contagious.
